Departing Edinburgh, our Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands tour continues to Stirling, where you&#39;ll see Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. We then continue to Callander for breakfast in this bustling town known as the gateway to the Highlands. The bus then heads north into the Highlands, passing Rannoch Moor, before stopping at the dark and brooding Glencoe Pass, a beautiful photo spot and where your driver/guide will tell you the chilling story of the infamous massacre of 1692. After crossing Loch Leven at Ballachulish, we&#39;ll stop for lunch near Fort William before following the Caledonian Canal through the Great Glen to Fort Augustus and Loch Ness. Here, you can sail the loch for about an hour on the award-winning Loch Ness Cruise, or enjoy the scenery of the tranquil lakeside village. Please note that this portion of the tour may be subject to change due to weather conditions during the winter months. After a stop at Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, the tour returns to Edinburgh. We&#39;ll pass Loch Laggan, the setting for the internationally acclaimed television show &#39;Monarch of the Glen,&#39; before stopping in picturesque Pitlochry, a charming Victorian resort town. Passing through Perth and the Kingdom of Fife, we&#39;ll cross the Forth Crossing along the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, before arriving in Scotland&#39;s capital with a million memories and photos. Notes: Please note that some hotels in the city are not included in our pickup routes. If your hotel is not included, we will contact you to inform you of the nearest pickup location. Please wait for the guide at the main entrance of the indicated hotel. Return Transfer: We can&#39;t guarantee that you&#39;ll be dropped off exactly where you were picked up; sometimes it may depend on our route back to the city. Your driver will discuss this with you. We&#39;ll drop you off at convenient points in the city center. This tour is not recommended for young children (6 years and under).

Loch Ness and the Scottish Mountains

Your tour will depart early in the morning from The Elephant House, 21 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EN, from where you&#39;ll travel northwest to Fort William to meet the Jacobite Steam Train, affectionately known to all of us as the Hogwarts Express. Your guide will point out some of the key filming locations used in all eight films along the way. Please note that we typically travel on the Fort William-Mallaig train, but on some dates, the train may run from Mallaig to Fort William. Strolling through Rannoch Moor, one of Scotland&#39;s largest wilderness areas, you&#39;ll see the rugged wilderness where the Death Eaters boarded the train in the film Deathly Hallows - Part One. Next, we&#39;ll take you through the eerie Glencoe Pass, which served as a backdrop for several scenes from the third film onward. This famous and dramatic volcanic valley appeared in several background scenes in The Prisoner of Azkaban, including the scene where Hermione punches Malfoy. In Fort William, you&#39;ll board the Jacobite Steam Train for the world&#39;s longest rail journey. It&#39;s the perfect way to see some famous film locations—just as Harry and his friends did. A highlight of the trip is crossing the magnificent 21-arch Victoria Glenfinnan Viaduct. One of the most iconic images from the films is the Jacobite Steam Train, known to all as the &quot;Hogwarts Express,&quot; passing Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way to school. Remember to watch out for flying cars! While enjoying the view of Loch Shiel (first seen in Chamber of Secrets) from your window, you may have time for the train to stop at the viaduct, allowing you to take photos of the magnificent view and imagine yourself in the film The Prisoner of Azkaban, when Harry encounters a Dementor for the first time as the Hogwarts Express stops at the bridge. The train will then stop at Glenfinnan station so you can stretch your legs and, if you wish, visit the West Highland Railway Museum, located in the restored station building. Keep an eye out for the stunning Loch Shiel near Glenfinnan, one of two lakes used as a stand-in for Hogwarts Lake in the Harry Potter films. It&#39;s where Buckbeak dips his toe in The Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry and Hermione also observe it from the Astronomy Tower in a particularly beautiful scene at the end of The Half-Blood Prince. Loch Shiel was also transformed for some Triwizard Tournament scenes in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Next, you&#39;ll see the small island of Eilean na Moine, which housed Dumbledore&#39;s Tomb and is framed by Loch Eilt, used several times in the film, including as the setting for the bridge to Hogwarts and the location of Hagrid&#39;s hut. Upon reaching the fishing village of Mallaig, with its ferry route to the Isle of Skye (from which you can see it on a clear day), you&#39;ll take a break from site-seeing to enjoy some free time in the village, with a variety of lunch options. From Mallaig, you&#39;ll reboard the coach, where we&#39;ll stop at the Glenfinnan visitor center for a prime photographic opportunity of the steam train returning over the viaduct, before returning to Edinburgh via Pitlochry. PLEASE NOTE THAT OCCASIONALLY THIS TOUR MAY OPERATE IN REVERSE OF THE ABOVE ITINERARY, WHERE YOU WILL BOARD THE AFTERNOON TRAIN FROM MALLIAG TO FORT WILLIAM. *The stop at Glenfinnan is subject to parking availability. Notes: Please come prepared. Dress comfortably and for all weather conditions. This tour is a long day to cover the distance and make the train departure time. There are restrooms on board the bus and a small packed breakfast will be provided, but we regret that we cannot accommodate individual dietary requirements. Be sure to bring water and snacks. There are facilities on board the train and lunch options in Mallaig. It is your sole responsibility to ensure you board the return bus from Mallaig to Fort William at the correct time. Our driver-guide will not accompany you on the train or during your time in Mallaig; this is your free time to enjoy as you wish. Not suitable for children under 8 years of age

From central Edinburgh, board an air-conditioned coach and follow in Jamie and Claire&#39;s footsteps, stopping in the beautiful village of Falkland, nestled between the two Lomond Hills in Howe of Fife. Outlander fans will recognize Falkland as the stand-in for Inverness, where Claire and Frank spend their honeymoon. Our second location of the day will be the village of Culross. Several parts of Culross are used to represent the village of Cranesmuir, predominantly in the first season of Outlander. During your time here, you&#39;ll see many of the scenes come to life as you enter the show&#39;s actual filming location. Explore Blackness Castle, the rich history within its walls, and learn about its multifaceted history as a stately residence, garrison fortress, and state prison. Outlander fans may also recognize the exterior as Fort William, the headquarters of the sinister Black Jack Randall. The tour continues to the town of Linlithgow, famous for its palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Here, Outlander fans have the opportunity to see Linlithgow Palace, used as the setting for the infamous Wentworth Prison in Outlander. Linlithgow Palace is where Jamie from Outlander was held prisoner and tortured by Black Jack Randall, one of the most intense scenes filmed during the television series. Take some time for refreshments/lunch here and explore before the next stop. Our last location of the day, Midhope Castle, is a must-see for Outlander fans. Midhope Castle is the outdoor location of the Fraser family home, known as Lallybroch. Spend some time at the castle to take photos and live out your Outlander fantasy. When you return to Edinburgh, ask for directions to Bakehouse Close, a location featured in the third series of Outlander as Jamie&#39;s printing house. Notes: * Midhope Castle is only available from March to December * Sometimes BLACKNESS castle can be replaced by DOUNE castle This tour has a minimum requirement of 8 passengers and is subject to cancellation if this minimum is not met. Board your minibus and get ready for a full day of adventure. As you begin your journey into the Highlands, you&#39;ll see the incredible Forth Railway Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, you&#39;ll have time to grab a coffee or some delicious homemade cakes in the beautiful Highland town of Pitlochry. Enjoy the stunning scenery as you travel through the spectacular wilderness of Cairngorms National Park. Loch Ness is rightly famous worldwide for its beauty and mystery. Here, you&#39;ll have the opportunity to enjoy a boat cruise* to spot monsters in the loch&#39;s deepest waters, all the way to Urquhart Castle*, where you&#39;ll have time to visit this impressive lakeside ruin. If cruises aren&#39;t your thing, we&#39;ll continue on to the village of Drumnadrochit, home to several tourist attractions and lunch options—the best place to meet Nessie. Glen Coe is eerily beautiful and rich in history. Standing at the mouth of the valley, you&#39;ll feel the past come to life as our guide recounts the horrific massacre of the MacDonald clan. The route home takes you past the beautiful city of Stirling and its stunning castle. You&#39;ll learn more about William Wallace&#39;s exploits, dramatized in the film Braveheart, and the turbulent times in which he lived. Please note this tour may operate in reverse. Notes: *The Loch Ness cruise and Urquhart Castle visit are additional extras and are subject to availability. - Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). - Children under 3 years old are not allowed on the minibus. - Please bring sunglasses, plenty of layers of clothing, shoes suitable for short walks on rough or uneven terrain, and clothing suitable for all weather conditions. - You can bring one piece of cabin-sized luggage: 55cm x 40cm x 20cm (not exceeding 15kg) and one small carry-on bag.
